Jane was hired by Jay Chiat in 1982, one of the first strategic planners in the US. Chiat\Day went on to achieve unparalleled creative success. Florence created and directed this video – an homage to the beauty of collaboration between planners and creatives, and of course, to Jane.
After Ms. Newman retired from Merkley Newman Harty, through a serendipitous encounter with the nomadic Samburu tribe in the Kenyan bush, she founded The Thorn Tree Project, an NGO whose mission is to help the children of Northern Kenya go to school. Today, The Thorn Tree Project provides dorms and full-time school for over 1300 boys and girls, and just celebrated their first university graduate.
