Almay was a dull, hypoallergenic skincare brand, not known for color or cosmetics. Florence helped launch a relaxed lifestyle/beauty campaign starring working mom, Elaine Irwin. She also happened to be a model for Ralph Lauren and was married to a rock star. 

The brand grew 33%.

Intense-i Color (the first combinations of colored mascara, eye shadow and liner for different eye colors) was the #1 launch in color cosmetics that year.
